Dr. Chanel Gaither is a seasoned educational leader, founder, and strategic visionary with over 15 years of experience designing and scaling innovative academic programs that drive equity, access, and excellence for diverse student populations. With a proven record of cross-sector collaboration, national and international program expansion, and institutional partnership development, Dr. Gaither brings a bold, data-informed, and mission-driven approach to leadership in education and social impact spaces.
She is the Founder and Executive Director of Ascend Legacy Academy (ALA), an academic enrichment institution that empowers middle and high school scholars through culturally responsive curriculum, STEM-focused certification programs, and community-engaged research initiatives.
Prior to founding Ascend Legacy Academy, Dr. Gaither launched MACS, a college access and readiness organization that provided targeted advising and application support to students in Delaware, Maryland, Virginia, and New York. MACS established strategic partnerships with D.C. Public Schools and the Houston Independent School District to increase postsecondary opportunities for underrepresented youth. In 2018, Dr. Gaither successfully expanded the organization’s reach internationally to serve students in the United Arab Emirates and Saudi Arabia, guiding them through the U.S. college admissions process with a culturally sensitive, outcomes-driven approach.
In addition to her entrepreneurial leadership, Dr. Gaither has served in higher education as an adjunct faculty member at The University of Delaware, where she taught undergraduate courses, mentored pre-service educators, and advanced inclusive teaching practices grounded in research and equity. Her deep commitment to professional learning and educator development has positioned her as a sought-after voice in education reform, curriculum design, and culturally responsive pedagogy.
Dr. Gaither holds a doctorate in education and is widely recognized for her ability to build and lead mission-aligned teams, foster high-impact partnerships, and deliver measurable outcomes across K–12 and higher education environments. She has secured funding and support from philanthropic partners, school districts, and community-based organizations to sustain and scale programming that meets the evolving needs of students and families.
At the core of her work is a belief in legacy — that education should not only prepare students for the future but also honor the resilience and brilliance of their communities. With a track record of visionary leadership, cross-cultural collaboration, and tangible impact, Dr. Gaither is uniquely positioned to take on executive leadership roles that require both strategic oversight and a deep understanding of the education landscape.
